Description
This mahogany dish is hand carved in Haiti by a small assortment of Haitian men of all ages.
Since Haiti is deforested, slabs of mahogany are brought in from other islands so that the artisans can have wood to make their craft.
They are each given a slab and they utilize every inch of the piece of wood. They make bowls, dishes, plates, salad servers, and other miscellaneous fun knick knacks out of the wood to sell.
These woodcrafters continuously work to support their families.
